Hello all, I've been a car nut for over 20 years and finally bought my first BMW, a 2008 335Xi sedan (manual of course), 75k miles, just had complete service (walnut blast, plugs, coils, all fluids, tires, a few other things). So where do I go from here? My car history includes a highly modded Porsche Turbo (600+ whp/wtq, brakes, coilovers, $50k total in mods, lost count!), two STi's (one that was 400 hp/tq, the other 3 50), another 911, a M-B G550, a crazy off-road go anywhere 77 Ford F-150 Ranger short box hi-boy, (super rare setup, still have it) and a lot more too many to remember forget about naming them!
Life hasn't been m friend and at 39 I'm disabled and can only have one car, and need to keep it reliable to haul my kids around. Th car is stock, but loaded with Premium, Cold weather, and Sport packages. I'm having the dealer do 30% tint, but wondering what other mods people would recommend? I've read a ton about the suspension and most people seem to like the Eibach springs with the Koni yellows. However, I usually go pretty far towards track parts when modding my cars (I've run 6 puck race clutches that took 40 pounds of force to engage on my DD), and have really liked H&R coilovers. At about $1250 they seem like a good deal too. Anybody run them or have any feedback?
My rims will be swapped for some light 18" OZ, HRE, or BBS once I run down the new tires on it, which would be easy to do in a track day (I'll definitely track it a few times a year). The front rotors will go to some Stop-tech slotted ones with race pads. That leaves the engine and exhaust, which I'm finding too much info on to figure out. I've had Cobb AP tuners on 2 cars and they're a super easy way to add power in stages, but the JRB seems the more popular one here. So assuming I go with that tuning method, what's the best exhaust for a DD? I do NOT want rice, but good engine sound when I get on it, and a fairly quiet semi-sleeper in normal driving. My favorite exhaust was a Cobb TBE on my first STi, änd I'd love to find something similar.
Anyhow, thanks in advance for any advice, and I'm pretty stoked to finally get a BMW!
