This may come as a shock to you as it has me, but I am considering letting go of my prized 85 M635. It may be time for someone else to enjoy it now that I have done pretty much all that it needs. The question is, how much to ask and expect. I thought I would pole the community that watches these things closely. I have a number in mind that I want, but want to hear your thoughts. If I can't get what I want, i'll keep it.

Like all of us I have been watching prices and they do seem to be going up but still vary greatly with condition. It's hard for all of us to price our own cars since we tend to be a emotionally tied to them. That said on one hand mine is a daily driver with about 205,000 miles on it and on the other, this one is in top running condition.

Mechanical; The engine has been rebuilt (Mild stroke, cam timing adjust, miller WAR chip and MAF, dyno tuned). H&R springs and sway bars, Bilsteins. Recent new Alternator. It is mechanically very well sorted and maintained. I have all my records plus the records of the previous two owners (missing info prior to that). Recently installed a new parallel flow condenser, Sanden compressor, dryer and hoses. AC is perfect. New Rotor, cap and plug wires.

Exterior; Paint I did with a friend who is a professional. It turned out very nice for a driver, but it holds the price back a bit because it was not rubber out. BBS RS 17x8 wheels that I refinished. No body rust CA car. One area of rust on the center of the rear bumper. Cleaned and treated with RustMort. I bought a spare rear bumper set to re-chrome and replace. Just have not gotten to it.

Interior is original and very nice. No rips or tears, dash has a cap I put in myself when I replaced the windshield (OEM) and installed a new gasket. I have a new gasket for the rear window and passenger door. New driver's door seals are in. Replaced speedo gears. Nakamichi CD-400 head unit, Boston Acoustic Speakers. (Door cards not cut) Complete tool kit (including spark plug wrench) and correct warning triangle. Wired for V1 above rear view mirror. A must have. New shift boot, newly wrapped steering.

That's the high points. I could go on for some time. So please tell me what you think and your opinions on where to sell. I am considering Bring a Dolly and set a reserve or just bring it to the forum first and see what happens.

Without pics it's difficult to estimate. Can you post or link to some pics?

Looks like a pretty nice example. I'd guess it would be nearer the high end of the prices we've seen lately. I'd list it on bring-a-trailer if you really want to part with it. Dash cap is the only negative.

Does the dash cap squeak or make noise at all?

Very nice, looks like you have all your boxes checked.

What did the engine rebuild cost you? I'm dreading mine

Bring a trailer or ebay is your best bet, I would say more than $30k for your example with the body mileage.

Some maybe a stickler for the exhaust and no glass out respray but I think you will get more with the engine rebuild than the last couple M6/m635s have approached. Most were only going for 15-20k

I was told to but it on an auction site to get the most $$ out of a Euro M635. Ebay etc. (I own a similar same car, natural interior )

Chances are if you auction it, it will get shipped back to Europe.

Cost is the rebuilding, parts, labor & machining was about $15k. Stock cams were in great shape, new later M5 crank, polished, forged Pistons, new valves in rebuilt head, block machining, new oil pump, rebuilt injectors. Cam chain, guides & tensioners were new already.

Does the dash cap squeak or make noise at all? not unless the road is really rough. I was a little worried about that as well but since I wanted to replace the glass anyway, it just made sense to do it then. Now that it's done, no way I would attempt it and other way.

The first two are very nice, original examples, but there's something a bit off about the third. IIRC, this is the third time it's been "sold" by the same eBay seller, so why have the buyers backed out at that $?

This sold for $25.5 which you probably saw. at 138k miles I was a little surprised.

IMO, the buyer for an M635 is somewhat different than the buyer of an M6, and that may(?) have some effect on price, with the M635 having the edge. Could be wrong, though. You hear of M635's being bought here and shipped back across the ocean, but not the M6.

I agree and was told that by a couple people when I was going to sell mine.
