Hey, I'm about to order clears all around for my car from Pelican Parts because it's the cheapest deal I can find...
For the taillights, I'm just looking to get the ambers removed... for that, can I just buy the lenses, part number PEL-IV203002 (which includes both sides), or do I need the whole assemblies, left and right, part numbers BW-63-21-9-403-099 and BW-63-21-9-403-101?
Just looking to save $100 here.
Thanks!

Are the lenses just the glass in front? If so, I should probably just get the lenses...

See that diagram doesnt call any of it a lense..

Hmm... maybe I do need to get the entire assembly... :\
I was just practicing on my car to see how easy it would be to install the rear lights, and I ran into some trouble... I unscrewed the 4 bolts holding the back in, but it still won't push out. Is there something else I need to do to get the taillights to pop out?
(maybe this would be a good time to order a Bentley manual as well) :shifty
according to the manual
'from inside the luggage compartment, rotate the retaining clip 90 degrees and remove the plstic access cover from rear of the light cluster'
'disconnect wiring connector then unscrew retaining nuts and remove light unit from vehicle'
the picture shows it being taken off with the left hand side being pulled out first...
it work now>?

you need both the right side and the left side (099 & 101) The funny part is that they rnt the same price.

I got the 4 nuts out, but the unit still won't budge. The 4 rods sticking out seem firmly in place and the unit itself doesn't seem to want to go anywhere. How exaxctly is this thing supposed to come out? :\

i just pushed hard to get mine out. try pushing harder from the inside, sometimes the years of dust n dirt makes it stick.

Hmmm... another problem is the wiring connector won't come out... is there some trick I'm missing to get it out? I push on the two plastic tabs on the top and bottom, but it still seems glued to the unit.

well, try and force it out, you are getting new ones. So does it matter too much if you break the old ones? I am not saying be wreckless and smash em with a hammer. But put some muscle into it.

Okay, I got the wiring connector out, but no matter how much force I apply (I even tried a hammer at one point) it doesn't even give any signs of letting up. Really wierd... most stuff on my car gives in if I push hard enough. Anyone else have ideas?

Try to put your fingers on the outer part of the lights and try to pull. Worked for me.

get a buisness card and slide it between the body and assembly. The rubber boot that keeps the water out tends to stick. My advice would be to keep the connector plugged in. I took it out first and 3 months later my toe is still f'ed up. The assemblies are alot heavier than they seem to be.

Got it! Before I read your post about the business card thing, I went and figured out that it was the lining between the assembly and the car that what keeping me from removing the unit. I took a flathead screwdriver and pried the unit up out of the molding and it eventually worked... now I just have to wait for the euro taillights to arrive in the mail =)
