My mechanic showed me my transmission control module, said it smelled fried (it did), as transmission fluid leaked into it. I need a control module for automatic transmission for an '89. He mentioned why fluid got into it, but I forgot what it was, how could I fix this problem? Would one from a 535 or a 735i of the same years work? Or would somebody have one from an '88-'89 parts car? Will check BMW dismantler here but please let me know if you have one. Thanks for the replies in advance...got her repainted, entire suspension replaced, stainless braided brake lines, new starter, a/c r134 conversion done, etc

You'll probably find them more in the E34 and E32. The 4HP22 EH was used pretty late on the 6er. I think the '89's and maybe the 88's had it. Like servotronic steering and exhaust, the '89 had a few things that were unique and easier found on the next gen of 5 and 7.

I think this was unique to the late 86 and newer e24. Not sure that it was used in any other application as the 4hp22eh in the e32 and e34 was slightly different.

If you have one you and Quantum make a deal as I can't get to where I have it stashed for 3-4 hours and don't think I have that one anyway.

Located an exact same module, in great shape. Thanks for the replies and help! Now on to the task of bringing my pride and joy back onto the road!
