I looked and couldn't find if this has already been asked, but I am cleaning and repairing my E36 M3 sunroof. I have cleaned everything except the cables and the tracks they go in. What is the best way to clean it and if needed, what would be best lubricant to apply once the track and cable are clean?

I've used white lithium grease but I've seen shops use a heavier grease.

How did the white lithium do?

I recall seeing recommendations for a dry lube because it doesn't catch dirt as much. I'd think one of the cans of garage door Teflon lube would work well.

Works for me. I didn't use a heavier grease due to reason stated by other poster.
