M52 POWER!

My first car was a 96 328is, then an E46 M3, then a GTI DSG, hated that thing, now I have a 97 E36 M3 sedan with 202k that I picked up for under 5k, Cali car.

The car runs perfect. Everything works! It pulls hard and smooth in every gear, it's an absolute blast and rush.
It handles amazing.
It's looks are classic.
Zero rust (thx Cali)
So much win.

Soooooo happy with it.:buttrock Who the F is buying all these new garbage cars i see on the road for at least 5x the cost of this??

Saving for S54 swap (loved that motor in my e46 m3):devillook582991

Often wonder this myself, but many people prefer the luxuries and lack of repairs a newer car provides.

I seriously considered getting an m2, but after taking my e36 around the block it just makes me smile. Even if I was tracking it, it's plenty of car to enjoy and push myself with.

I suppose a day might come when I have more income and even less time to work on the car, but I often have the same thought you do. For the money, these cars are great value for fun. My zhp does make me wish I had an e46 m3 sometimes. I believe everyone should be able to find a car they enjoy that's priced reasonably, and it's kinda a shame when people buy expensive cars and don't enjoy them.

Good luck with the new m!

I agree for the most part.

I think there are a lot of new Asian cars that I really would like to have as a daily driver/care free car in addition to my m3.

Like the brz/frs .. those cars are just fun. Not fast, but fun.

A subaru sti would be great.

But the new bmws are pathetic IMO. I've driven a few and they are awful....

Congrats! Hard to find a better car for the money. I'm firmly against having a car payment, would much rather own a 20 year old car outright than lease or finance something new.

Curious to hear more about your impressions of newer BMWs? I was thinking of getting an f30 daily to go with the e36 m3

I've driven an m6 and 435 and thought they were both boring as hell. I felt completely disconnected from the car. For a point A to B car I'm sure it's alright.. just not my cup of tea.

Don't get me wrong, they were quick and luxurious. And also, I can't afford one, just got to drive them..

Pathetic and awful was a bit strong. I'm just sad that the only new cars that are really fun to drive IMO are the Asian cars... they have that feel that makes the e36 so appealing. Simple, connected, drivers oriented, light...

I drive an e92 m3 vert often. my e36 m3 is far more exciting. They are fast but feel like a camaro as opposed to a crafty cutter. Just not a fan.

Agreed. My e36 M3 sedan is far and away a better handling car than my 335i is. Now, when I want luxury for a longer trip the 335 is a much nicer ride but for carving up twisties it's the M3 all day.

I daily drive a F10 535, its comfortable, good power but it doesn't compare to the e36 m3 in pure driving pleasure. When im in the e36 I have always have a stupid grin on my face
