Hey guys, I just started noticing my oil is getting low after every 500 miles or so and its not leaking on the ground. Every time its gotten low I've filled it to the halfway point on the dipstick but after 500 miles or so it gets low again and i can hear lifter tick. What do you guys think?

There's only two places it can go, on the ground or out the tailpipe, so if you're sure it isn't leaking externally, you're burning it.

Likely places would be (in order of easy repair) PCV Cyclonic separator, valve seals, rings (wiper or main).

What weight and brand are you using, and when was your last complete oil change?

Do yourself a favor and check your oil. Don't weight for the lifters to tick, as you can do damage to the engine.

Also, before you drive yourself crazy, do a controlled usage test in quarts/mile.

Yeah i do my best to check it before i go to school, I'm pretty sure I'm losing it quicker than 1/1000 though. Is it possible that having less oil than you should could make it burn quicker?

And by valve seals do you mean valve cover gasket? Ive already replaced that

No to your 1st question.

Valve stem seals are the seals that prevent oil from leaking past the valves. Not the vcg. Pretty big job. You can do without pulling the head, but you really might as well pull the head if your that deep. Valve stem seals usually lead to oil being burned upon start up and high rpm wot shifts.

Valve stem seals never really cause a major loss of oil though... if you are burning/losing a lot of oil, chances are it isn't the valve stem seals.

Try switching your oil weight and brand. My 96 M3 never liked Mobil 1. 15w50 is too heavy imo.

15w50 is too thick. I was using an average amount of M1 10w40 on my stock daily driver with 135k miles on it. The engine uses less of the Shel T6 since I switched.

tooshfty, how many miles are on your M, are you sure it is not leaking while driving? Look at your trans and underneath the car behind the engine.

It does have 191k right now, the PO said he used 15w 50 every oil change. Can someone post the part number for the cyclonic separator? I'm a little confused as to which part it is on pelican I keep seeing CCV but I'm not sure what it is. Maybe I should switch to 5w 40 next oil change?

Buy yourself parts 1,3,6 while your at it. Those hoses are probably all caked with oil and such
