Just curious if anyone has replaced the passenger seat mat that is for the airbag. Apparently this mat is there to detect if a passenger is present. Lets call it a butts-in-seat detector.
I have the warning light glowing. I looked on realoem.com but did not see the mat listed. So if anybody knows the part number and/or has tackled the replacement of the mat, I would be very interested in hearing about it.
My car is a 2006 325xi Wagon.
Thank you!
I don't know if BMW uses the same (butt detector) in every car but it might help knowing what car were looking at

They don't sell it separately. You have to buy the seat bottom cushion. On my car I coded this feature out so the airbag is never turned off. I wouldn't trust the car to turn it off anyway.....

Wow that must be why the repair is so expensive. I wonder if it is possible to place a jumper on the wiring harness so that the airbag is always enabled?

Not really. There is a module in the seat cushion. If you took the cushion off then you might be able to place some resistors in AHEAD of the module. But why? Unplug the sensor then code out the feature using INPA. Takes 5 or 10 min (If you have inpa installed on your laptop)
