hey,

tonight when i started the car up to go to church, it started up and made a loud screeching sound

i started driving and it went away, but would come back when i stopped or idled the engine

then my clutch pedal started feeling strange and at one point on the way to church, the pedal got stuck down and wouldn't come back up

i pulled it up with my foot and it started working for a little while

i had a hard time putting the car into gear and sometimes it wouldn't allow me to put the shifter into gear

when i got to church, the car had a burning smell

after a couple of hours i tried starting the car again and the screeching is there and it won't let me shift the car into gear. the pedal comes up like normal, the few times i tried it. when i push the clutch pedal down and hold it, i can hear like metal on metal crunching...

anyone have any idea what this problem could be?
right now, it won't shift into gear

clutch master cylinder?
clutch?

the car has 101,000 miles on it and i'm not sure if it's the original clutch and master cylinder

thanks for the help

1st stop - check your belts

It could be both.

pedal staying on the floor most likely means clutch master cylinder.
burning smell was probably from the last remainder of your clutch material.

goodluck.

hope it's not those two, and it's something simpler.

would u take your car to the dealer versus and independent for a $150 difference in labor?

you don't get a service loaner at the independent

did everyone choose to go with a stock clutch?

prob not for a clutch unless you have an indy. shop you trust and patronize. just about everyone quotes 6 hours for a clutch
