Thinking about painting my engine cover.. My car is Sparkling Graphite Metallic.. Any suggestions in what color I should paint it.. Thinking if red or maybe white will look good.. Don't wanna use the same color as car..
Also does anyone know where I can find a carbon fiber emblem for the engine cover?? I want a carbon fiber one, and one that will resist heat.. Been looking around but only seem to find for the exterior..

You should paint it a real mans colour, pink.

Hey man I have the same idea to paint the engine cover I have high heat primer paint (white) and red paint for the engine cover - I just wanted to know what steps should I take to make it perfect? And if I should use clear coat after its all done. Please if anyone has any info. Thank you.

As I have always painted my engine covers, I would say not to clear coat. Adds a strange tacky-ness to it. In my opinion anyhow. I always did red, and now that I hear more people want to do red it just makes me want to paint mine pink now. (I really will too)

Lol! I don't know about that.. It might come out cool looking but don't think I would use that color..

I have read couple steps of how people paint them.. Make sure you sand it down and then clean it with mineral spirits to remove greases and oil.. Then spray once wait several minutes then respray and do that for 2 more additional times.. And some people use high heat gloss but it all depends what look your looking for.. And they apply it the same way 2-3 coats..

I ended up getting this bluish silverish metallic paint for the cover.. Post up a pic if you end up painting it pink..
And for the color red, its true lot of people seem to be painting it red..

Lol a lot of people do but just makes sense for me I have a black 335i with red interior the only other color that might look good and go with it is white but that would get dirty really easy.
