First Car?

I've been saving up for the last few months for a car and I have begun to really become interested in BMWs as no other car seems to appeal to me in the same way. I decided to go the bimmer forums to see if anyone here has an opinion on a reliable BMW model (obviously that also depends on how the car has been taken care of) that I can get for around $5000. Btw... i don't actually have a bmw yet, like it says in the information "my cars" that's just the car my dad used to own a couple years back.
