I have done a lot of searching and I am finding several Bosch Coil Packs that will fit my 1998 M3 Sedan. I am going to replace all 6 and I have seen listed both a P/N 00143 and P/N 1227030081. I believe that the longer P/N is the official Bosch P/N for the part I want but was hoping someone could confirm this. I believe this P/N does not come with the boot that connects to the plug and that these need to be purchased separately. Does Bosch sell a boot compatible with this P/N? I am not certain Bosch is the best but I do know that the inexpensive Chinese parts that are currently on the car are problematic. As a result I just want to get the best Coil Packs compatible with my car, and believe these would be a Bosch item. The car is completely stock and will be driven spiritedly on occasion but not tracked.

I just did my all of my coil packs about a month and a half ago and I bought 6x Bosch P/N 00143 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006K8U5X8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I haven't had any issues with them and the swap resolved a couple ignition coil codes on my Peake reader. Your usage sounds like mine - some spirited driving but no plans for tracking. I've been really satisfied with what I bought - I'm not sure what the appeal of the coil without the boot would be. I'd be interested to hear that reasoning.

I ended up ordering Bosch P/N 1227030081 which seem to be the Coil Pack that was used by most folks who went with Bosch. Why this does not come with the boot is unclear and now I am uncertain which boots are compatible with this Coil Pack. If anyone knows this and also if there is a Bosch boot P/N that is suppose to ordered please let me know. Would rather not degrade the performance of new coil packs with marginal boots.

If I were you, cancel the order if possible and order from the link 100xtree posted https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006K8U5X8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It looks like that one comes with the boot and is a complete unit. No need to 2nd guess or research buying the boot separately.

About a month ago I bought (6) six ignition coils myself from ebay by searching Bosch 00143. The seller I bought it from was giving a good price for some reason and saved me some money - forgot how much I saved but a set of 6 normally goes for $300. I paid less than that :)
