So we all know that direct injection engines need to have their valves cleaned... and because V8 engines now have a hot-V, it means the engine has to come out of the car. Somebody must have a better way of doing this. Removing the engine to clean the valves just sounds like such a time consuming process. Many 2nd owners (and 3rd owners) are going to be pretty unhappy when they purchase a car to find out it's going to run them 5k+ to remove and walnut blast their intake valves if they want their cars to run smoothly.
I can't even imagine the unhappy feeling on a 2nd or 3rd owner of some of the new M cars with V8s. I know you got that M5/M6 for a steal, but you need to put about $5k into the engine cleaning mod and another $14k into it to replace those shiny carbon ceramic brakes.

seafoam
Get 3 CCVs in reserve and pump seafoam for days. Problem solved, maybe.

I thought people concluded that sea foam didn't work?

The RS4 dudes concluded it could slow it down and did dislodge some carbon. They went around testing everything from Seafoam to Techron, and the people who actually did these treatments weren't the ones whining that it needed to be walnut blasted 3 years later and their injectors came out relatively clean. It didn't cure the carbon factory that is the FSI, but at the end of the day nobody cared because it took them 3 hours to pull their manifold and clean it, same with the N54. I don't think if you put it through the manifold the product will actually make it far into the valves. The physical solution is already being done by Toyota with the hybrid PFI\DI method.
Assuming massive quantities, they might do something as a ghetto cleaner. Hell, even water as a steam clean will work for something.
But if you have to pull the engine to clean your intake valves, fail card awarded. The F355 is proud of BMW.
