Hey guys! Ive had a 97 M3/4 for about 10 years but recently had transmission issues/money issues and have parked it for now. Had a kid in January and have been looking at new vehicles, anyone have any experience with a 335 4 door and the car seat in it? Regret not getting something larger? I am also looking at an X3 but would REALLY prefer the 335. How tired did you get getting the baby in and out of the small backseat? Thanks in advance everyone!

Car seats work pretty well in a sedan, although the front seat can't be too far back. My son has one in his 335i coupe, but has to put her into it from the opposite side (back) as you can't get her over the backwards-facing seat from the passenger door.
If you have money issues, the 335i is probably not the car to get. The 328i is cheaper to run. Also opens up the possibility of a wagon/touring.

Pretty much what Floyd said in regard to 328. But I have the carseat in the middle (between driver/passenger seat) of the back seat so either way I have to halfway get in the car to put my son in. But i don't personally find it troubling. Its more a personal preference I would think.

I guess I should have said that the money issues were more of an end of life decision on a car that has seen better days and I didn't wanna dump 3k into a new transmission when I know there's other things to do. I just don't know if I wanna bend in and out of the car everyday to load her in to her seat and also didn't know about trunk space, etc, etc. Anyone know how much more maintenance I will encounter in a 335 vs 328? Plan on getting a manual.

Seems that many people are having to have their turbos replaced to fix wastegate rattles on 335i. Also injectors. You won't find those problems on 328i
Auto boxes haven't been a problem.

NO problem at all on my 328i e90 2008 and it has almost 120,000 mileage .
