Today my transmission light came on, it has a 149.000 miles I've never serviced it at to I have only had it for a few months. When the light came on I notice that the rpm in 4 or 5 went a little higher and didn't seem to shift and that's when the light came on. I shut the car off and cranked it back up and let it idle for about 6 minutes and then it drove fine with no lights..
Could it be the transmission fluid? After I shit it off I let it idle for about 6 minutes and then it drove fine could it be a fluid issue maybe it just heated up and it was fine? I'm clueless.
Please help! 😔

I would get a code reader on there and see what codes you get. Good luck, and hope it's nothing "to" major.

I presume this is an automatic - I'd have the transmission fluid changed immediately! At 150K you are at least 50K overdue.

It's in the shop now. He just came in and adviced me the code I have is for a slip in 5-6 he also adviced me that he's going to check the fluid level and if it's low that's the problem but if it's not then it's probably something else

@Millerracing20, I've heard a couple of codes that others have said. They said 5-6 as well. It seems like this code pops up for others as well. Let us know and give us an update on what the real problem is. Much appreciate it and Thank You.

UPDATE: Transmission fluid was low. He's doing the paperwork now I will give another update as soon as I drive the vehicle.

Okay everyone! My vehicle does shift better, he reset the transmission adaptions so it's re-learning the gear changing. I've got a slight little jerk when coming to a stop. It feels like I've been rear ended. It only does it in d it doesn't do it when it's in DS mode. That's been doing it ever sense I got the vehicle. I think maybe a transmission software update will fix that. I've spoke to several people and they all say that there BMW 330i does the same.

What is the vehicle year and model ? thanks again. If it's something you need to relearn which is programming. Can the app BMW CARLY Pro do it?
