Bought my CPO car and there is this sweet, almost frosting like, cake smell in the car. It's exacerbated when the air is on. I know it can possibly be anti freeze but I haven't seen spots of a leak and the car was just inspected to be CPO.

Its throughout the interior and you smell it the minute you get inside the car. I'm thinking it's the cleaner they used on the leather and all over the interior. There was almost a waxy coating on all of the instruments, gear selector, cup holders, etc.. The sales guys told me about this and it should go away between 2-3 weeks. they also said the engine is taken out and cleaned out with a special cleaner that contributes to this as well.

any thoughts on this?

"...the engine was taken out......" What was the salesperson smoking? Different dealers detail their cars differently.

Your dealer probably used armor all or something similar. Yes, the smell (as opposed to fragrance) will go away.

Check the detailing section for suggested products.

he might not have said that. He said the engine would be cleaned so as an auto novice, i thought they would have to take it out, thus why I typed it above. Apologies. One of the reasons i'm here is to learn more and become auto proficient. Love cars, just want to understand them more.

I called service and the said they do an AC refresher but that should go away. Thanks for your input.

When you brush your teeth, do you take them out to do so?

Do you type with the same one finger you use to pick your nose, or do you also use the thumb you're still sucking on?
