Hello I have an 07 e90.
Having trouble engaging the 1st gear and at low speeds it tends to shake and want to stall,
As I release the clutch From 0-5 mph it shakes and does not want to go unless I rev it higher to go.
Once I'm rolling I don't have trouble switching gears into 2nd 3rd etc. it seems like the problem is there only at low speeds or trying to go up a ramp it shakes and wants to stall.
I'm wondering what it could be? Thank you

If the clutch is slipping in low gear, it's time for a clutch replacement. Failure to disengage when you depress the pedal could also be a worn out clutch. One sign of a worn clutch is to get into second gear, then while driving up a hill, accelerate hard and see if the RPMs climb with no increase in speed. That's a slipping clutch.

It shouldn't shake unless you're running the engine at too low a speed while it's under load. Keep engine speed at 2000 RPM or above and you shouldn't have that problem.

Thanks for responding. So it does look like I have a worn out clutch because as I depress the clutch I have to bring the RPM up to 2000+ to get the car moving a few inches, and this happens only when shifting into first gear or going in reverse. I'll need the whole clutch kit?

How many miles do you have on your car?

If you're letting out the clutch pedal and it's not moving, yes, you're in for the whole thing. Unfortunately the dual-mass flywheel is rather expensive. Don't forget to change the throwout bearing while you're at it.

I have around about 120K on it

The clutch kit usually comes with the throw out bearing right?
