Speedometer not working

Hey guys I just replaced the speed sensor on my e36 m3 and the speedometer hasn't started working any better... The need lags to move up to my speed and the needle spins wildly when I get to 80mph. I did the cluster test and didnt notice anything strange, any ideas guys???

When you replaced the last one, was it covered in a silver "gunk" or was it clean? When you replaced it, did it work temporarily or not at all?

there might have been a small amount of blackish stuff on there, not silver but it kind of looked dirty. And it worked almost as well as the one i just put it, Id say the one i just put in is a tinnnnny bit faster.

Follow the wire from the diff sensor plug and check for any breaks in the wire
