So I was changing my windshield wipers and somehow the bare arm, 2 inches away, smacked down on my windshield and cracked it. I can't believe that happened from such a short distance. Anyway, any recommendations on a local shop to replace it around North or Central NJ? Safelite quote online was $465, but I'm really not sure how their work is. I don't think insurance will cover it deductible free (mine is $500) but I will call them tomorrow and ask. Hoping to just get it fixed quick and be done with it. Thanks

I used Safelite when a stone chipped my windshield on a Lexus. Because I have such coverage, the insurance co. paid without deductible (and I hope they will pay your own repair). They recommended (and would pay for ) Safelite - this was for a Lexus RX350. I called Lexus and they told me they also recommend Safelite - ordering the windshield from Lexus is a multiple of the price that Safelite charges, and the Lexus dealer told me they use Safelite if a customer has a glass problem. [Safelite uses US glass, in my case from PPG, one of the largest producers.] I was concerned but went along with it, and I di not regret it one minute. Safelite came (appointment made) on time. They (actually, one man) were efficient, organized, obviously knew exactly what to do and how to do it. Less than an hour later - maybe even a half-hour - the new glass was in and everything was perfect. The glass is as good as the Lexus one was, the auto wipers work exactly as before, and they wipers clean as well as they used to. On the Lexus forum, other people had the same original concerns and ended up as satisfied as I was/am. Don't hesitate. Anyone who tells you that Safelite is not good is wrong, and anyone who tells you their glass is inferior is also wrong. Go for it!
