The passenger side corner turn signal on my E46 no longer works and I am unable to solve the issue. I bought the car several months ago and was informed that the car had been in a minor accident but was repaired by a body shop after the car was hit on the passenger side of the front bumper on the same side that the light is not working. The light was functioning at the time of purchase but maybe after a month or so I got a light on my dashboard telling me to check my light. I could see that the light was noticeably dimmer compared to the other side but it still functioned so I simply replaced the bulb. The light was solved for a while and the new bulb seemed to match the other one in brightness again but one day when merging onto the highway my car hit a hard bump and the light came back on right after. Upon inspection after taking the corner light assembly out I noticed that 2 of the clips on the bulb socket were broken off.(This relates later) After flipping both the bulbs and the bulb sockets between the left and right side I determined that neither seemed to be the problem as the turn signal worked on both sides when their parts were interchanged. It was only upon reinstalling the assembly into the car that the signal came back. I even ordered a new bulb socket thinking it may be the cause of my problem even after my experimenting with the lights and it worked but not after being reinstalled. What could be the source of my issue? Damage to the turn signals wiring from the collision or corrosion? :eyecrazy Any input would be appreciated, Thanks.

Corrosion in the sockets is a common problem. Also, don't buy bulbs at the local parts store. Why? The contacts on the base are made of brass or some other metal that corrodes. Buy bulbs from the dealer as the contacts don't corrode.
