So I'm having a problem with my fogs where one is brighter than the other, I just changed both bulbs hoping it would be an easy fix but the passenger side is dimmer than the driver side by quite a bit and it's annoying, any suggestions would be helpful. Hopefully the picture works if not I'll post one a different way.

Looks like the right side needs to be aimed?

Tried it, set where I thought it was even and it still looked dim, I was thinking there's maybe a wiring or connection issue but so far no luck

Swap fog lamps around and see what they look like. A wiring problem here is usually "It works or it doesn't" Is the glass dirty on the inside or is the glass crazed?

It's definitely weathered, I was thinking of getting replacements soon cuz stuff like this bothers me but for now I'm just trying to get even amounts of light.

If you have the round cannon plug that feeds all of the bumper lighting then check it. Mine was very corroded and causing voltage drops.

Perhaps degraded silvering on the reflector or a poor connection. Any warm wires?

I was thinking poor connection as well, the housings that the wires were connected to didn't even look the same (no idea why) so that could be an issue. I do have to take the fog lights out for a proper cleaning anyway I just have to find time to do that.

I'm gonna guess that one of the lenses was replace some time back and it was a depot lense.

If you say that the housings don't look the same, you might have an early e34 non projector fog for one side and a late projector fog on the other.

Hmm, I never thought of that. Which ones are supposed to be on an '89 or does it not much matter, headlights are ellipsoid if that helps. I want to replace them anyway with some fresh OEM fogs they're weathered all to hell anyway so I could use a new set

The early cars had the projector fogs, it was the middle years that got the cheap fogs.

It will be pretty easy to tell which you have. You want the projector ones, they work just a little better/ replacements are easier to find.

Okay I definitely have projector fogs but is it possible for the bulb to not pointing in the right direction? I get that the whole fog light itself can pointed in a certain direction but the light behind the glass looks like it's pointed in a different direction on the passenger side than on the driver side, even though the entire fog fixture is in the right spot.
