View Full Version : URO aluminum cooling system parts.
So, it's a foregone conclusion that the URO "upgraded" valley pan is a poorly-fitting dumpster fire of a part. However, they offer a couple other parts that are intriguing: a water pump with a metal impeller, an aluminum pulley for the water pump, and a cast aluminum thermostat housing. Has anyone tried any of these parts? I don't want this to turn into a URO bashing thread - there are plenty of those already - but I'd like to hear comments from people who have actually tried the parts.

I havent tried or heard anything about URO's new "upgraded parts". I've had good and bad luck with their parts in the past, more bad luck, than good. I am curious about their new "premium ball bearing" window regulators with a lifetime warranty. I keep getting messages on FB about them, they look ok in the pics.

I have their thermostat housings on two m50 motors. One has done about 30,000 miles no problem. The other was just installed last week.

I've used the thermostat housings on both an M50 and an M60 without issue.
Everything else Uro makes is pure garbage.

aluminum pulley for the water pump, and a cast aluminum thermostat housing installed on my E36 M3, working, no probs.

Same here.
Went OEM on Valley Pan etc

I'm using their M60 water pump and power steering pulleys for about 3 years. Nothing to report. If I remember right, the bore on one was a little loose, so I used a strip of paper to perfectly center it while tightening the bolts.

Can't help on these specific parts (that I might well need shortly) but the URO coolant overflow tank cap lasted almost a month before it broke apart. I wouldn't chance the water pump though sounds like you can inspect out any defects in their castings.

Stay away from URO suspention components. i did a few of the bushings in my E38 with URO and i was in there 10k miles later changing them again. I have about 5k on a set of URO M60 motor mounts in my E34. i've heard lots of bad things about URO motor mounts, so far they have survived the M60B44 beatings. anything URO is a crap shoot.
Thanks for the advice, guys. I am absolutely going OEM on the valley pan itself, and I'll give the thermostat housing and pulley a shot. Still on the fence with the water pump. As far as suspension, I've begun collecting Febi parts, including E31 front control arms.

I dont know what engine you are talking about, but wrt m30 anyway, there are at least 5 water pump options. I would not trust their bearings or seal.

Yeah, sorry for the lack of clarification...I have an M60B30.

I have behr fan clutch for an M60 that I only used for a couple weeks I'd like to get rid of. Might be a good time to replace your used one while you have everything apart.

Solid plan - unfortunately I have already picked a Behr fan clutch! Great minds etc. etc.
This is the plan:
-Pull oil pan, Loctite oil pump bolts, VAC motorsports oil pump shaft/sprocket upgrade
-Replace valley pan & knock sensors
-M60B40 intake with fresh gaskets
-All new cooling system components
-Replace valve cover gaskets & powdercoat valve covers
-Inspect power steering hoses
Then it'll be time for some light bodywork (door bottoms anyone?), a suspension refresh, and a six-speed swap. I already have a set of OEM M-pars on the way as well...
