my car sucks soo much sometimes i really want to get rid of it. the other day my rear sub frame cracks and breaks my diff bushings...which at a discount is 1200 plus 500+ in parts. as well as the grill surround isn't bolted in completely, the trim inside is breaking, the clutch pedal is broken, airbag light on, missing trim on the outside, valence in the back cracked some off, one of the shocks in the front is broken, needs new rear shock mounts, needs thermostat housing, o2 sensor, new plastic peices in the front undercarraige....and some more....
this isn't all normal stuff is it? does anyone else have these many problems?

alot of those have been touched upon, yes the reliability and quality of the parts on our car sucks alot...but our drivetrain is robust but the details and interior components need a bit of work...best thing to do is work on one thing at a time every free time you have...I have to replace my rear main seal, clutch, headgasket eventually, guibo, window motor and regulators, some of the seat heating components don't work, sticking 5th gear issue and front underpanel is gone...otherwise mine doesn't have that much problems as some of the M3's and it is all too common on E36's...plus I will have most of this done by the end of this year when I have some time before I start up dental school next year...

bought mine wrecked, repaired the body damage and it feels like a new car, I have put almost 10k on it in the last 8 months and not one problem except for my washer fluid ran low once. LOL Seriously though....I would have never guessed other people were having problems as mine feels so tight. I don't think a new car would feel any tighter actually. I hope this doesn't jinks me. Oh wait, I replace my guibo when I put my lightweight flywheel in because it had cracks in it.

most of the time when some bad has happend my car wasn't driveable, i haven't seen or driven my car in 3 weeks because of one thing broke another. and it seems like with my m3, when something breaks, it is something major that takes a lot of time and money, and i am getting fed up with it.

I hear ya. I bought a pristine, low mileage (28k), 98 M3 in November. Since then the tranny actually went out (yes, I know that's rare), the clutch was replaced while the new tranny was being put in, motor mounts broke too. I know the rear shocks are close to being toast, the RSM's are probably almost due too. I've spent $3500 in repairs and maintenance in the last 6k miles. :(

:bawl + :babyd = you. JK.
Seriously though....cars are machines. Some cars are better than others in some areas, etc. If you want something that is dependable, buy a Toyota. If you want performance, buy an M.

Toyota as a Toyota Supera? Now we talking performance and something that you don't need to work on all the time . =)

True dat....and MUCHO reliable whp to boot. lol
edit: That was actually my first car choice when shopping for a car (ended up being a 95 M3 -- second choice) a ways back. But I could not find a decent Supra in my price range. Hell, they still command top dollar.

i dont want a toyota, i hate them, im a BMW freak, and im still stuck in a Honda. i know all cars have thier issues but Good griefs man, i thought the E36 BMWs were much much more dependable, if they say MBs quaility and dependabilty is worse than BMW then lord help them.
its very discouraging ill tell you that, im thinking about getting a E36 M3 since they are way cheaper now, but this is sacaring me, i dont want to end up with a crappy one.
i mean damn are there any good rwd NA sports cars out there that can be had for around $20k

getting cheaper....i wonder why? they drop on value like crazy.....
that's funny i was looking at getting 95 m3 my self or supra but ended up with 98 m3
all cars have problems.
jhinck1414, your car is 7yrs old now. The plastic and rubber stuff tends to break alot in these cars .

Just because it's a Toyota doesn't make it reliable. Sure, they have bulletproof motors, but Supra's definitely have their fair share of problems.

that doens't mean anything to me. it just means that toyotas break too. all i am saying is, in my case i will getting to the point that the money for repairs is to great. also well eventually pass the value of the car.
