Does anyone know if this will work? If not then i might have some 2001+ M3 wheels for sale! The wheels look like this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7908172605&ssPageName=ADME:B:BN:MT:1
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
I don't think so. I can't find the numbers, but I'm pretty sure the E46 offset is different -- possibly lower in the rear. Do you have the wheels? If so, the offset should be stamped right on them (it will say something like ET41 or IS41).
I believe the OE fitment on a '97 was 41mm with a 17x8.5.

Mine are 205/60 R15's, which are 8 in wide. I know some came with 16's, but I don't think any were 8.5's. Should be 8's.

Dude, if you don't want em, I'll take em off your hands! :alright I'm up in Edmonds too... must be fate. ;) They will probably fit though - I've seen a lot of ads for wheels that say E36-E39 3 Series cross compatible. Offset may be a little more, but I'm pretty sure they fit.

I was referring to the '97 M3 wheels, which I'm pretty sure will fit right on a '97 3-series. I would also be surprised if yours were 15x8 -- I would have expected 15x7 .
Just to clarify, you would need to look at the wheel, not the tire for the offset numbers -- it may be on the inside. Check the offset of the wheels on your car now, and compare it with those of your new wheels. Here is where it gets complicated - when you change wheel width, you normally have to change the offset as well. Rather than try to explain it here, go to tirerack.com, they have a good explanation of offset (http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.htm) . There are also some good tire/wheel calculator (http://gs.tolan-hoechst.com/tirecalc.htm)s.
I know tons of people have put M3 wheels on their 3 series, hopefully they will see this thread and offer more help.
