I found a 16x9 screen to replace my small screen for a very reasonable price. I'm trying to remove the trim around the old screen to replace but it's not coming loose. I see only one screw on the left of the trim piece but it's not letting go.

Anyone have a similar issue and how did you get it out?

Thanks

Have you looked up any writeups or other information on removing the trim and screen?

There are 3 screws for the trim - one on each side, for which you need to remove the wood trim on each side to access, and one on the bottom.

I have and found nothing specific to removing the trim. My question is not how it comes off but what method was used to removed the small stubborn screws. They do not want to back out.

A Philips #1 should be all you need for the trim screws themselves, as well as the 4 screen screws.
I also use a stubby #2 for the glovebox trim, which you need to remove to get to the screws for the passenger wood trim.
I don't think any more tools are required for the whole procedure.

Thank you both! I finally removed the trim piece. I didn't realized the passenger side wood trim is held on by 4 thumb screw on the backside. I removed those and was able to get to the other screw to the left of the bezel surrounding the 4x3 navigation unit.

Turns out my damn screw driver was turn at the handle and not the shaft (good grief). That's now in the trash!

So moving on I installed the 16x9 unit and powered it up. Sounds great but the screen content flickers the date and time. The navigation computer is a MKII but it's my understanding that the widescreen will work with each navigation version but will be stretched.

I'll disconnect my battery tomorrow to see if it needs a reset but if that doesn't work is it potentially a bad monitor?

I had to get to work and cannot take video but can do that tomorrow.

Thank again!
