So last night on my drive home from work, I hit a slick spot and went into the ditch. As I was going it, I heard a scrapping for just a second. With the help of a kind stranger and a co-worker, I was able to push out my car. I pulled into a near gas station, and everything looked okay, so I drove home. This morning, driving to school, I start noticing a shake in the car when I hit about 50, and around 60, it became undrivable. My guess is that I bent a rim, my hope is that I threw off a wheel balance. When I was on a smooth road going about 20, I noticed that I could feel a very slight shake, I could have been imagining that though. I am also guessing that it is coming from the front of the car by the amount the steering wheel was shaking. Any thoughts/ideas.

bent wheel, lost wheel weight, bent suspension, damaged tire

Get it on a lift and inspect

Could be mud got through the bead and into the tire.

Could be bent rim or bent strut, control arm. Thrown out of alignment

Okay, so the shaking stopped altogether (???), I was getting a slight scraping sound coming from the front left side, I took the wheel off and the brake dust shield or whatever was bent slightly in one spot and was rubbing on the disk. I examined both front wheels, suspension, control arms, and didn't see anything wrong or out of place. I'll write this one off as being really lucky!

That is pretty lucky. Some how I managed to bend a strut mount, not exactly sure.

How tf did you even end up in a ditch anyway?

Did you have any snow in the wheel? A decent amount of unbalanced snow in the barrel/spokes will throw a nasty vibration on the highway. May be consistent with your vibration going away the next day.

Black ice + fresh powder + quick acceleration + dsc off
