Hi guys,
So I've seen the glass that we have on our cars originally comes with an E2 certification. And any replacement glass that we get is generally an E6 or an E8 at least in the states anyway. My question is, is it possible to buy glass that is E2 certified from germany, or ask BMW to order it themselves?

E2 certification means the glass was certified by France. Is there a reason you don't want Belgium or Czech Republic glass?

The E code (with a capital ‘E’) is used for cars in European countries, and indicates the country that certified the windshield. It is a circle with the capital letter E followed by a number. The codes are assigned by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

Wow Q! How do you do it?
This time it was through attrition. The discussions about windshields and what the writing on them meant has come up multiple times over the past 2 decades of me being on Internet forums. The mentioning of the encircled "E2" triggered memories of seeing a list of the "E" codes...so a simple google search found the entire list in approx 5 seconds.
It took longer (about another minute) to find the image I had of the windshield markings so that those unfamiliar with what was being discussed had a visual image. :D

Blessed to have this BMW guru amongst us esp with the disappearance of the "tall one".
