Polished Lip - Scratches and Rust

I have a set of AT Italia replica Contour wheels - gunmetal with a polished SS lip. The bare polished SS lip has surface scratches and, here and there, little ~3mm surface rust spots. How do I return this lip to better condition? I would guess rubbing compound, mag polish, and wax... any recommendations?

try steel wool. Extra fine. sample in a small area first.
