Will BassLink fit standing up in the right pocket above the battery in e39? Anybody has any images and general thoughts on the unit? Thinking of getting one for my brother's e39 since the "regular" box will be getting in the way - it would be nice to tuck BassLink in that cubby. I've looked online, but could not find any images with this setup and I don't have the unit oh hand obviously.

Thank you.

Can you get the dimensions of the unit from the website, or by calling them? Build a box out of cardboard of the same size. Allow for wires.

This has been done to E39s in the past, not necessarily with that speaker. Search on battery compartment subwoofer.

I know it's been done - I have a 12" glassed in there. I need to know if Basslink will fit...

Hi

Here's the detail about the Basslink and the dimensions of it. I'm 98% sure it won't 'easily' fit there in perhaps the way you are thinking. Perhaps with some modifications to the existing cover piece etc it might tuck in? Keep in mind that if the car it's going in doesn't have a ski hatch or a cutout in the rear seat bulkhead, then all the bass will be 'swirling' around in the trunk and in the cabin you'll just hear and feel 'vibrational' bass. This 'might' be good enough for your bro for instance, but I think from past discussions with you about audio stuff I think you already know that etc.

Cheers, Dennis!

I guess suggesting a tried and true method to someone to figure things out for themselves is not helpful. Some would rather wait for someone else to do the work for them. I'm saying that a little sarcastically, but it does seem to be the way the world is going. Less and less people will do things for themselves - they'll "expect" someone else to do the work for them. And then, if it's wrong, they'll probably blame them, too.

I don't know about you, but I don't have time to make a full scale model out of card board to figure out if it fits or now ... especially so if this is a popular upgrade and has been done by other e39 owners.

Sorry, I didn't realize you flunked cardboard box making in 2nd grade.

However, if you had the box you could move it around in other orientations/areas. It might be possible to modify that cubby area a bit to allow it to fit at least partway inside... or try a different area.
