I have a strange problem. On a few occasions while driving I would push down on the accelerator pedal it would have no effect - no increase in RPM. My car uses a throttle cable and not drive by wire. The car drives fine otherwise, no CEL and it only happens once in awhile. Also no codes when I ran PA Soft 1.4. Could it be something with the ASC/DSC or possibly the TPS?

Have you carefully inspected your throttle cable/s?
I had to replace 2 plastic bushings at the end of cables on my 540.
If they're original as mine were, they simply fall apart at some point.

The throttle cable was just replaced. Function of the cable seems to be good. Anyone else have any ideas?

I had a very similar issue with my E46. I was on the highway one day and was attempting to use kickdown to pass a truck but instead I got some engine braking lol. I guess the throttle cable was loose or something and it just disconnected when I hit the throttle. My dad fixed it. I have no idea what he did but it was disconnected for sure. That may be your problem. I would look into that
