No Start 328i 1996 ?

I am looking at a car, well the owner says it was running fine till one day it would just not start, Dash lights come on but it won't crank.. Any idea? At first I thought, maybe Crankposition sensor or Cam Position sensor, but usually when those are bad, the car does try to crank and stall, right? So what else is there? I would really like to take this car in, give it a new life, super charge it or just keep it as a daily. :D

Could be the Battery or the Starter, But Could it really be, just the Battery?

Yes it can be the battery. If it's flat enough, it won't crank at all, and if you try it a few times too many, central locking will stop working and whatnot.

What else? Just dont see how the starter can go bad for no reason overnight?

Why could it not fail overnight? It can die from temperature, moisture, voltage spike, vibrations, cosmic radiation, ... Besides, that's what the seller said. He might have driven it into a pond for all you know.

Have you tried to jump start it?
