If we're talking performance then Chevy of course. Best looking muscle cars, and most compatible engines and transmissions.

Didn't really specify new or old. If new, Chevy for me. Ford with always be blah to me, and too many cheap Chrysler cars everywhere in Michigan to take away from the hemi.
Now if old cars, would love to have an early hemi cuda or challenger... Or one of those road runners with the 10'wings !
Old - Hemi always.
New - Not so sure since almost all three of them are really good in performance wise. Mechanical wise I would go with GM. Easy to work on and tons of space. Reliability wise either GM or Ford. The new Hemi I am not so sure. They do make great power but no idea on reliability.

I love the od Chrysler/Plymouth cars and I wish to own a 68-69 Road Runner.

Chevy for me not that I have anything against the others. I daily a hemi and it does great I like it better than a 5.3 or the vortec 5.7 in tahoes.
Stock vs stock of course.
But anything ls platform can be modified so easily and with so many combos/purposes.
Ive put in at least 30 engines into fords
Focus taurus escorts trucks
Problem with ford is horrible year to year parts interchange.
They cant seem to do it right the first time so they change it every year.
Making finding that part from that exact vin number ridiculous then the one you get is bad too because its a flawed design they fixed on the next year by changing one small thing on the valve body.
id rather not go through that

I'd go with Chevy. Their LS engines are brilliant and they can be swapped into pretty much anything with four wheels.

Saw a video the other day of a brand new camaro going 10.6 1/4mile with just nitrous, tune, and tires.... Pretty impressive

Except living in MI....
If new Chevy, Ford, then Chrysler Group... Classic. Then It would be reverse order (Mopar cars are pretty cool classics)... As much as I hate to admit it, the new Mustang looks pretty badass, (2015-)... If I had to get a new one of those companies cars I would get 1) a vette 2) hellcat or Viper. And 3) mustang... I also like the new camaros... I think it's kind of sad that the best thing us American car builders can put out is just a remake of 40-year-old cars... With little changed besides AC and fuel injection
Don't like the newer or the newest Camaro at all. I'm starting to like the new Mustang even more than I did before. When it came out first I didn't like the front headlights since it looked like Ford simply slapped the same Fusion or Taurus headlights on there. The rest of the car it looks amazing and I especially love the back end. Wide and low. Fastback! Interesting to see how it stacks up against the Camaro since now for the first time it has an independent rear suspension (IRS). Love the new GT350 too. That thing sounds amazing. From General Motors, I'd definitely pick the C7 Vette since it looks like a Ferrari from a distance with an awesome powertrain. Then the GT350 Mustang. From Chrysler/Dodge I really like the Challenger.
Modern engine wise - GM > Ford > Hemi
Classic wise - Hemi > either GM or Ford

Those who selected - Other - I'd be interested to know what brand/engine and why.

That new mustang is badass isn' it, it's pretty undeniable... Rear end sets it off... Which it should because ideally that's what side you'll see the most of... If they had their way... Never drivin one but heard good things here and there... Saw a Foose(TM) mustang at a little car show in bumfuck north Ga one day, and the dude looked exactly like chip Foose was the weird part, but he wasn't, he clearly wished he was Foose himself
Yeah, even the 5.0 still sounds good. Better than the LS engines.

I'm a big GM guy and really not too into the Camaros. We have a few SS's at work that are cool, fast and sound good, but the Challenger is IMO a better looking and driving car. Only thing is they're tough to see out of our back.
Can't attest to the new mustang as I haven't had any time in one.

The new stangs are pretty sweet. I'd take one over the maro or Mopar ponies any day.

Blue Oval thunder baby, love me some ford. Atleast Ford tries to incorporate new tech in there engines. Let's not forget the Indigo, GT90 or GT40 or the GT, the Raptor or the old school 98 Taurus SHO, Thunderbird SC V6. Or one of my favorites was the Mustang Super Stallion. Who'd thought back then E85!!

Good call on the Ford-Yamaha SHO Taurus V6 engine. That is an unbelievable engine and quite a 'sleeper' too.

Check this one out, 240Z with an M3 engine.

I have seen that Z for sale before. Pretty cool car though. I suppose if I really had to choose just based on engine, it would obviously be Chevy. If I had to just choose one brand, it would be Mopar.
My "other" choice for motor or car would of course be Ferrari btw.

Picking Chevy Jim..,,. I'm disappointed, just kidding really I like all cars, while I prefer Ford they all have their unique touch.
I like the fact Ford builds modern engine with variable valve timing and DOHC. I've driven both a Camaro SS and A Mustang 5.0. They 5.0 had moar power and the SS had a nicer chassis. They interior where way more refined in the Mustang than the SS. I was very disappointed in the interior and comfort of the SS, the Mustang I could drive cross country. I drove the V6 RS to Aspen, was not that comfortable.

Newer Camaros are performance oriented and make lousy daily drivers -- would be fun at the track. I think the new Mustang looks awesome and is a reasonable daily driver -- trunk, comfort--I actually was close to getting one!
Chevy engines though!
Meh ...

Chevy built tough

The Buick Super Wildcat 465 is imo one of the best engines a GM company made. It "only" made 360hp, but this was made up for with 465 lb-ft! That engine is a low-reving, high torque, dual carb monster!

Does everyone forget that chevy had a 400 hp dohc in 1991 in the zr1 390 in 1990
It took ford two years after that to build the 4.6 modular engine and ten more years to make 390 hp with a supercharger in the 03 cobra.
Im not saying either one is better I mean really the m62 looks to me like a ford 4.6 modular with an ls1 intake and I love that a little 4.4 can make almost 300 hp even if thats unimpressive by todays standard.

455 HO Pontiac in my 1973 Trans Am in the picture! Very mild engine, 550 HP 600 Ft. Lbs.

Just read your post about the DOHC chevy V8 engine. You do realize that engine was completely designed by Lotus engineers and not by GM, right? It was only matter of time before GM decided to design their very own DOHC V8 called Northstar found in Cadillac's only. It was based on that Lotus designed engine.

At the time GM owned Lotus, which designed the engine, but it was assembled by Mercury Marine. Lots of GM parts in the Lotus Carlton.

Idk isn't that just perks of owning a company
It still was put in a chevrolet zr1 and said chevrolet on the valve cover probably better off that it was designed by lotus

Certainly it is and that is one obvious reason why GM did it. In light of the absolute trash that American car companies were foisting upon consumers, it is probably better that Lotus designed it (with GM input, which was a good/bad thing). It is interesting that assembly was handed over to Mercury Marine, though anybody familiar with Lotus consumer car builds of that era won't bat an eye. As an aside, Ive owned Mercury Marine mercruiser 350s and 454s and their IO drives in several boats and those are fantastic engines.
Right. Mercury assembled the engines. Lotus pretty much designed the engine. GM installed it in their Vette.

Generally more of a GM guy, but I love that we now have a domestically made, high revving v8
GT350 is an unbelievable car.

Boss 429 Ford Hemi,,so strong when tuned the right way, with a solid lifter cam that they were even outlawed from the drag strips. From the show room floor, they weren't that strong,,but all it took was a new cam and lifters and the correct timing gears hooked to the cam and there was no stopping that power house. From the Wood Brothers Racing on the giant oval tracks of Nascar , to Ohio George Montgomery on the drag strips,,they made em stop running that engine , because they Were Too Strong. The Single Over Head Cam 427 engine Ford made was really a Hemi engine also, and it was another engine that was outlawed, and never allowed to run a Nascar event, but it wasn't as strong at the BOSS. So I guess I'm FORD. Sold an R code 66 Galaxie, as soon as my son got his drivers license,,,didn't want him getting into that 427 engine with 2 four barrel holly carbs hooked to it, only car I ever owned that would outrun the headlights.
