After recently finding and repairing a short circuit that wouldn't let my horn blow, I was finally able to take my car to the annual state inspection. I got an R because I failed emissions (Service Engine Soon light was on - which is apparently directly related to emissions based on what the inspection guy said). Anyways, he told me to drive it around a little and as soon as I started my car to leave the inspection place, the dash lights ABS DSC BRAKE & AIRBAG/SEATBELT were on. The wipers would not stop working and the speedometer didn't work at all. That morning, everything was fine, the only light I had on my way to the inspection was the Service Engine Soon light. Not to mention, the day before was when I fixed the short circuit. This issue occurred at the time as well so I read that a weak battery might cause the lights to be on and the wipers to keep working. I wired another battery to the positive and ground terminal under the hood and that seemed to stop the wipers, not sure about the lights. Also, I did have the ABS module disconnected when trying to find the short but I reconnected it when I put everything back together. The next morning, after the car sat for about 9 hours, everything was fine, just the Service Engine Soon light was on as I mentioned earlier. At the inspection station, the guy jacked the car up from the front left and front right tires. The front left tire made some weird "cracking sound?" when it was being jacked up. Reading more online about the lights and speedometer not working, I heard it might be an ABS sensor issue. Are there ABS sensors in the front of the car that might be damaged or dirty? Sorry for writing so much, I just wanted to give the best possible explanation of my situation. Also, for the wipers, I just took out the relay so that they wouldn't constantly work, its embarrassing driving around with your wipers on on a nice sunny day. The steering wheel controls also do not work. Any help or ideas would be gladly appreciated and would help relieve my stress. BMW are nice cars, just a pain in the butt sometimes. Thanks again.

Sounds like you're in over your head. You need to take it to a shop or dealer with the proper equipment and experience to diagnose and fix your problems. This is why it's not always a good idea for the layman to try and work on the electronics of a bmw.
