OBD1 coolant temp sensor-there are 2 of them. 1 for the gauges and 1 for the DME. the one for the gauges gets its signal ground from the cluster. The one for the DME gets its signal ground from the TPS and IAT ground (obd1).
OBD2 is a single coolant temp sensors that is actually 2 in 1. the gauge side of the sensor gets its ground from the gauges. However the motor wiring harness was changed so that the ground for the sensor (iirc) is not common with the TPS.
you can use the OBD2 sensor on the obd1 413 DME but you will need to get the signal ground from the TPS to the CLT and I think the IAT as well. you can use the dedicated ground and return for the gauges and the gauge will read properly.
