I was thinking about lowering my car a bit and putting some VMRs or other CSL style wheels. However I live in RI and got a deal on a 325XI so I don't have the preferred rwd. I was going to do H&R or Eibach lowering springs but was not sure if the would fit, or lower the car evenly. It is mostly for looks, and wanted to lower it for a lot less money than the coil overs. Has anybody done this before? I know the 325i looks fine, and thats what I want, but need to make sure it will be the same on the Xdrive. (How I wish I had rear, and this wasnt a daily...)

New to the forum so please do not crucify me if the post has been done before. Also just bought my first BMW. I am however very familiar with these cars, and have done quite a bit of work on my best friends e46.

I just lowered my 325 with tein s techs and it looks amazing, DIY is possibly but very frustrating and time consuming, took me 9 hours mainly because the rear control arms were very hard to get back on and compressing the front springs took forever and there's a lack of space to turn a wrench or ratchet. After make sure you get an alignment because the camber and toe will have changed.

x-drive cars are already lower than the rwd cars. And it is not wise to change the angle of the front drive shaft components. Do yourself a favor and put some fresh Bilsten B6 HD struts on the front and B6 HD shocks in the rear. While you are doing this, replace the ball joints, control arms, and mounts. Then go see how nice your car rides and handles with a fresh suspension that is properly damped.
