Can anyone exlplain this to me?

So as some of you may know I am looking for a few finishing parts to replace my original beige to black. Or so i thought. Apparently, by looking at my vin 6726404 my car had black interior? But when i bought it, it had everything beige up to the carpet? I highly doubt it was changed could I have a fake vin or something?

A lot can happen in 30+ years. My car had a custom-ordered white interior, and now it's all black. It as done correctly, though, so without checking the VIN and having some of the pre-restoration photos you can't tell from looking at it.

It is really not very difficult if you have the right donor car. I had an '83 euro with a cloth interior and comfort seats. I was able to buy a complete black leather interior with Recaro seats. It took me a day to leisurely swap out the interior. Luckily I didn't need to change the carpet. BTW most of that interior is now in my '85.

I have had all my panels off (save for the door cards) and back on in a couple hours including my seats. Also not very rushed work.

I would love to trade my pearl-beige interior for a peanut butter guts (black trim on beige) interior...

Yea i have finishing touches to make my car all black. Contemplating on replacing the carpet which is not cheap.

I haven't had much luck sourcing carpet I feel confident in pulling the trigger on. My 1980 carpet I "think" was a chocolate color, but is now a puke green. Seems in decent shape, I have ping ponged the idea of dying it around but haven't worked up the ambition quite yet.

My interior is Gobibeige, which is peanut butter looking and I love it. I am fairly certain it was discontinued after 1982 and never made it to any E24 cars. All of those were the lighter tan.

I found a website that makes carpets for cars with a ton of choice. They are $300 i believe and are pre shaped for the specific model. Ill try finding it.
