Hey gang, i acquired a used set of Bilstein HD's for my 81 628 from a member, however i need some parts. i emailed Bilstein US and they only have the front strut booth, everything else is special order from Germany and will take 12 weeks to get. What are the parts i need and where can i get them. Will these work? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/kyb-sb105/overview/year/1981/make/bmw/model/633csi
Thanks

Other than hardware I do not see anything missing. Those eyelet bushings look meh.
Edit: Boots can be had from generic places for much less than OE prices.

Which hardware would i need? the top nut? washer? dust boot etc? Are those bushings replaceable?
Thanks

Bilstein USA is located in Poway, CA Call them and maybe even take a ride down there. The parts you appear to need should be readily available.

looks like youre gonna need collar nuts for the fronts, top nuts for all of them and boots for all as well. the shock bushings you should have a good look at yourself. i've never heard of replacing shock bushings but im sure its been done when needed. definitely replace all your shock mounts at the same time. when the shocks are out its a great time to do pretty much any suspension work cause of all the free space.

The front mounts are crazy expensive on the e12, not sure what ill do. The rear mounts appears to be mostly steel and a rubber seat, so im not sure if the rears would really require replacement. Thoughts?

aw man thats crazy theyre like $200. i think theyre worth replacing, cause its a good amount of work to get the strut out, and the rubber in them degrades pretty quick. rubber bushings have a 10ish year lifespan if they arent driven too hard ive found. maybe theres a kyb alternative for the mounts. you could also get some adjustable camber plates, which actually would cost less. i got kmac stage 1 plates for my 86 and they actually said e12/e9/e30 on the box but they fit fine, it was about $300 for a pair.

Thank you, ill have to weigh my options, i dont think i want camber plates. Ill see if kyb Sells the mounts.
So dust boots, bump stops, collar nut and top nut, i think this should be it?
Hope these shocks do well, i got them for free.

yeah, if youre going for oem look/performance stock mounts are the way to go, though camber plates dont ride bad at all as long as they have some polly in them. spherical mounts ride very harshly. i remember seeing kyb mounts somewhere, if im not mistaken.
that should be all you need. bilsteins are great shocks and last quite a while.

Thanks man.. Ive had spherical bearing camber plates along with a coilover kit on my e46, it wasn't bad but not what i want for the e24. Ill check out kyb tonight. Thanks again.
