Hi there,

New to the forum and was wondering if anybody has some advice on a potential purchase of a 2nd hand.. '3.0l 335d SE 2dr 2008' Model ..in gun metal grey

the car looks in mint condition in side and out and has all the services stamps by date

with full leather interior, i-drive sat-nav and paddle shift fitted ....the only problem or sticking point is the mileage .....190k to be precise hence the £6995 asking price

does anyone know what dangers lie ahead for such a high mileage car if i were to take the plunge?

thanks

None of our 335d sedans here in the USA/CA are very near that mileage. Our guess is that the engine will run almost forever. Weak point in that engine is the swirl flaps in the intake. I would be concerned with the longevity of the transmission: the 6HP26 has been very solid, but as I already mentioned no-one has really got that far.

Someone from EU/UK will have to step up and comment.

You are talking about 190,000 kilometers? Or 190,000 miles?

1.Rear crank shaft seal.
2. Turbos actuators
3. Presure houses
4. Turbo boost pipe
6. Suspension -shocks sometimes springs and bushes
To be honest everything. All depend who and how drive and service that car. To avoid costly repairs of gearbox is good to do oil and filter service for it. Also oil and new seals for diff.
Take car to someone who knows how desel should sound. Thats usually telling a lot.

I don't have any experience with BMW diesels, but diesels in general are extremely high milage capable motors. I have a Chevy 3500 that I use to tow my 5th wheel and we have almost 300k on the odometer. We've had it since it was new, but again, I don't have any experience at all with BMW diesel!
