My new to me 08 335i conv has a glove box door issue. Can't open with key (tried box locked and unlocked) does not allow opening when unlocking doors and trunk. Appears that the mechanism in the door is broken. How do I get this stupid thing to open??:mad
Have pulled the screws and bearings on the hinge shaft without success (bottom part of door will not clear the shaft) I'm stumped. any help would be appreciated.

Check this out. Mine has the same problem, so I found this DIY.

Thanks Hal - I found that this afternoon and at least I was able to get the glove box open. Had no idea that if you turn the key counter-clockwise past the vertical, it will open every time. The bimmerfest thread also gives several fixes - one electrical and two mechanical. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN DISASSEMBLING THE GLOVE BOX DOOR. The passenger side airbag is housed in the door. Its interesting that the fuse panel is behind the glove box and only accessible when open. Also the box is so small it's only good for a pair of gloves and you registration.

I wound up bringing my car to the dealer for service. I went to the dealer because I have an extended warranty, and I'm glad I do. My issues were the glovebox, my rain sensing wipers that always think it's raining, and a needed code reset to turn my right side halo back on. At this point, the glovebox latch needs to be replaced and the part was ordered. The rain sensing issue requires a new windshield as part of the fix, and they haven't been able to clear the halo issue. I hate to imagine what this would cost without that warranty.
