I need to get a set of summer tires for my 97 M3/4 and i am planning on getting some new wheels as well. I want to get 18x8 so i can rotate the wheels. Any one have problems with 8" in the front, like with rubbing or anything. Also i need ppls suggestions for summer tires. What do you think are the best summer performane tire for a reasonable price?

18 X 8 should be no problem. Try S03s or the new Michelin PS2s.

The 18X8 would work just fine on the car. I agree on the tires tiguy recommended. If you are looking for the best deal on a max grip tire you can also look at the Kumho MX. They have excellent dry grip but would not be up to the other tires in the wet.
If I can help give me a call.

Jim - I've heard nothing but rave comments from people using the MXs for summer-only and more specifically auto-x in Street Tire classes, yet the dry performance numbers on the TireRack site aren't nearly as high as some other Ultra High performance, or Max performance tires. Any idea? And are they really THAT great?
Even so, I'm seriously considering them for auto-x (Street tire class) and a friend told me to get them shaved for maximum performance. They're already slightly shallower (9/32) than some others, so should they be shaved, and if so how much?

Those numbers you are looking at are from customer feedback. They are not from a test. I have tested them a few times are they are an excellent handling tire comparable to the best on the market. In our test they were better than the Pilot Sport and the Yoko AVS Sport.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you
jeez. . .PS2s were mentioned when e36mpwr is looking for a reasonably priced tire?
And yes, the Kumho MX is really that great.

Yes the MX is that good of a tire. They are equal to the other max performance tires in the dry but tires like the S03 and the PS2 are better in the wet.
If I can help let me know.

Jim, how would you rate the MX in the wet against the Kumho Ecsta 712?
Thanks,
