Firstly, a hello from the UK London and my first post, so thanks in advance for anyone who is able to offer some advice. I have been trawling the site and tons of posts for a couple of weeks now in an attempt to help solve my ongoing issue but have been unable to find a resolution. My car has been in the garage for nearly 3 weeks now and it is getting painful!
I had noticed a very rough idle and very a shaky car when sat at the lights. Also, when sat at say 2k revs with a consistent accelerator position and speed, the car was jerky and hesitant.
I then took it to my BMW specialist who advised HPFP failure and 3 injectors, which were replaced (ouch). I then picked the car up, but, hey presto, within 10 minutes of driving the (lower dash) engine management light came back on. Returning to the garage immediately, we could clear the light by switching the engine on and off so I drove the 10 miles home as needed the car that evening.
I then drove the car again 2 days later back to the garage and my god the shaking on the engine was 20 times worse before the new HPFP/injectors so I limped there, this time the upper dash engine management light was on and wouldn’t go off regardless.
My mechanic has since checked the vanos, coils, spark plugs,, injectors and is pretty much stuck as to what the issue is which isnt filling me with confidence. The car had new coils and sparks 4 months ago and the mechanic has moved coils/sparks/injectors from the non-faulty cylinders to the functioning ones but the issue prevails. I have suggested o2 sensors after some research on here, but he says these are fine. The exhausts are very sooty in comparison to some other 335is I have seen and he advises it is running very rich. Could it be coked up that bad, that it would cause this?
I am quite lost currently as have spent £1500 already and my mechanic wants to remove my remap before carrying on with any work, however, from reading numerous posts on here and bimmerofrums, the map has never been the issue. I would also then be further out of pocket if we removed the map and issue was still there, as I would want another map, so I am reluctant to go down this route!
The fault codes are as below:
0029CC Combustion misfires, several cylinders
0029D0 Combustion misfires, cylinder 4
0029D1 Combustion misfires, cylinder 5
0029D2 Combustion misfires, cylinder 6
0029D9 Misfire at low tank fill level
0029E1 Mixture control 2
