Hey guys,

just wondering, what kind of tires do you guys use on your cars, and how long do they usually last (normal street driving)

Thanks

I'm getting a set of new Kuhmo ultra high performance VR speed rated racing tires shipped to me. I have high expectations. I've heard good things about Kuhmo. :)

pirelli p4000 - came with the car, and i don't like them one bit. they still have plenty of thread yet they lose traction under acceleration on a damn 525.

i also have to add that Toyo 800s are the greatest tire i have ever seen (~720 thread wear rating). Our Audi came with those when we bought it: 25000 miles on the tires and if you look at them they look like new. Quiet and good traction... Downside: T-rated :shifty

I have pilot SX's, decent tires, not bad handling, only problem is, their break point is not very forgiving and their just plain shit when they get overheated.

I have a set of ES 100's on the stock 14" wheels on my 325. They are now resting until the autox and track season is over. They are pretty good in terms of handling, but seemed to be melting away rather quickly. However, they were getting some fairly heavy use.

I am now using Falken Azena Sport's, but in a bigger size on different wheels, so it's impossible to compare. I would say that if you like the ES 100's, you will probably like the Falken's better--at least in the dry. I mention the Aena's because they are in about the same price range and are popular for people who enjoy autosports.

cheers,

Joe

blah blah ES100s? blah blah

I'm running ES100s and I'm not exactly thrilled with them. The sidewalls seem a bit too soft for such a low profile performance tire. I've had a chance to autocross them twice and do a track weekend on them.

On the track they were predictable on both an overcast day and a hot (90+) day never getting greasy. I put over 200 miles on the car that weekend and they wore well and evenly without chunking. When getting near the limit of traction they gave a small audible notice and never abruptly 'gave up' when at the limit.

I'm not sure I can give any real feedback on how they are for autocrossing since my skills aren't quite up to par yet to be able to blame the tires... :)
