About a week ago, my right rear turn signal began to fast flash. I replaced the bulb that appeared to have a dark spot. It then worked intermittently for a few times and now, back to fast flash. The dealer advised that I needed to replace the entire tail light assembly (about $350) because of three LED's that were not working? Seems like there should be another way????

There have been problems with these tail light assemblies. I had to replace the left rear assembly on my car (2006 325xi Wagon). My vintage does not use LEDs, but a short developed in the flat conductor that is molded into the plastic housing. This starts to get hot enough to melt the plastic housing. So a new housing (which came with new bulbs), and some new wires with the proper terminations, spliced onto the cars wiring harness, did the trick.

BMW should have recalled these, but chose not to. But before you dive into a repair, you should ask your dealer to research your VIN, to see if there is a bulletin for your car, and maybe some cost relief.

Same thing happened to my car. I was also told to replace the entire tail light assembly.

Thanks you two. Three LEDs out and $350. I know things are expensive with these cars but this is ridiculous!

Not sure if yours is a 4door, but if it is, I replaced my wife's assembly with this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EUVYPV0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00) from amazon. Looks identical to the oem one.
