Hello everyone!
I'm new to the forum, and I would like some help,
I pulled off the lower door moulding/trim on all four doors and my front fender because I just replaced it. The trim I removed cannot be reused and I want to replace it with new trim anyway so I need to know if the little metal rivets at the end of the door trim slot should be kept or do they need to be removed to replace the trim? Where do you recommend I purchase the trim/hardware? How do I install the new trim?
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks

Okay... I'm a total BMW noob, so take that for what it's worth. One thing I've noticed is that nothing I've come across on my car is unique to this forum. If you search diligently enough, you'll almost definitely find what you seek.
That said....My experience with working on vehicles says that you should most likely replace any fasteners that you are able to while the car is apart. Especially if some have already broken, the others are likely to break soon. Unless you enjoy doing it twice, take your time and replace the fasteners.
Realoem.com seems to be a well thought of source of parts. Also, Rockauto.com was recommended to me by a friend.
I wish you the best of luck. (I also have lower door trim problems, but haven't attempted a fix just yet.) If you remain stuck, I'd try to post a picture of the issue to help clarify.

Ive ordered the plastic fasteners but I'm just unsure about the metal rivets at the end of each piece of molding. Do they stay there or should i remove them? My new fender has no rivets at all. They seemed to be attached to the old moulding when i took it off.

www.ecstuning.com (http://www.ecstuning.com)
www.bavauto.com (http://www.bavauto.com)
Both are good sources of OEM parts. Use www.realoem.com (http://www.realoem.com) to research parts diagrams and get part numbers. I believe the metal piece comes on the molding, but you should confirm this using realoem. Wish I could be more helpful, but it has been a long time since I replaced those moldings on my car.
