So unless I can find a new head (or find someone to fix my cracked one) for my e21, it's destined for the junkyard :(
On the brighter side, I've been looking to steal the fake Recaros (Flo-fits) out of the car and replace the powered comfort seats in my e24.
It appears that recaros need an adapter in the e24 just like the e21. Does anyone know if the same bracket will fit? Does anyone know if the power mechanism on the e24 will accept a standard bracket?
Basically, I just wanna know if anyone has taken Recaros and thrown them into the power seat chassis on an e24. If so, how did they do it?
while you have a similar taste in vehicles to me, are you willing to ship over seas a head? If so I can likely source one for you :)

Haha, it's nice to find another like me! Definitely willing to ship from over seas. That's pretty much the only way I'd be able to repair my car anyway. I already spoke with 2 companies that said they don't have my head (Casting number 1 262 177), and a dude with an e21 on craigslist that hasn't responded in a while. If you're willing to help me out, I definitely want to talk to you!
wonder what the cost would be like to ship one from one of the reman shops to me, and then to you. removes the whole conus only BS

There is an adapter, but it's basically a couple pieces of bar stock with two sets of holes in them. An outer set for the E24 chassis mount and an inner set for the E21 seats. I'm not sure if there's an option that lets you keep power functions.

@pthm: I just found a local machine shop that should be able to work on my head. Gonna check them out on Saturday and see if they're reasonable first.
@alex Cool! Sounds very doable! I've seen that for the manual rails. Do you know if it's the same for the power rails? I just need it to slide back and forth and I'll be happy :)

You will need early seat bases from a 633/ manual 635 seat. Then, with an adapter you can mount the seat and have all normal adjustments. See my posts here: http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=126432&start=83
