Trying to get the rear wipers working on my '94 Touring.

Besides the motor being disconnected, there appears to be a pin that goes between the wiper pivot on the glass and the round portion of the motor in the door.

Part #10 in this diagram (PN 61628351863)
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=HK23-USA-08-1993-E34-BMW-530i&diagId=61_0081

It looks like some sort of pin goes through the hole and mates with the hole in the wiper linkage.

What I'm not sure about is if the pin is pressed in, or floating. And how long. I'm thinking I could get a bolt or clevis pin or something in there as a functional replacement. But I would like to see a picture of what the OEM part looks like first before I take everything apart.

A replacement is like $60 just for that wiper pivot which I would like to avoid if possible.

Thanks!

Google images found us something that will give you a bit of an idea: http://www.isert24.de/index.php/bmw-ersatzteile-tuning/bmw-5er-reihe/bmw-wischachslager-heckwischer-5er-e34-touring.html

You should just try to get a used part. Post a request in the classifieds section.

I could take a couple pictures in a few moments, though I don't believe that it will reveal anything. IIRC, it's all covered up because everything spins on it.

Thanks eddycooper that's the one! The question I have tflops is if the pin moves or is pressed in. I find it strange that mine is missing - something must have seriously went wrong!

I'll post in the classifieds thanks!

What do you mean by "moves"?

theres a spring loaded pin connected to the wiper arm assembly on the glass. You can see if in that link above, opposite the threaded post for the arm. It mates to a hole in the hatch side motor assembly. This system allows the glass to open. If you close the glass and the wiper is not in the home position, the first time you turn it on, the motor will turn and the pin will pop back into the hole, picking up the wiper and operating as it should.

Im not sure how the pin is kept in that assembly. Ill have to look at mine later today.

Exactly. The locking pin for the glass is fine. The pin is missing on my wiper pivot so there is nothing to "connect" to the hatch side motor.

Tflops what I mean is - is the pin connected to the wiper pivot pressed in (so it doesn't move) or does it "float" so that it can move up/down. It would have to be pretty precise otherwise.

I took the picture to point at what I'm asking about. Thanks!

I'll check soon. I believe it's solid.
