used 2007 335i

I just bought a used 2007 335i that has 40K miles. Although I got the extended warranty and had my mechanic check it, I am worried that I will start having problems within the next 2 years. Can someone tell me if they've had problems with their used car? Someone told me that because it wasn't driven as much, I will start having engine and transmission problems. I need advise as I have a few more days before I can return it to the dealer. Thank you.

I would get the following checked: serpentine belt and tensioner, valve cover gasket, oil pan, high pressure fuel pump, both turbos, radiator. Additionally I would perform: a quality engine flush and then use a synthetic oil, new oil filter, coolant flush and change. If you have a manual you COULD do a gear oil change, but if it's an automatic I'd just leave it alone if you're not having problems.

Not "driving it much" could mean different things. It could mean they didn't drive it much because they didn't have a long distance to travel, but drove it every day. It could mean that they drove it only on occasion but otherwise let it sit for a month or months at a time. You'd just have to find out which. If it is the type where it sat for a long time I'd do the above inspection and maintenance right away.
