Recently fitted 8.5*18 Hartge classics all round with 255/35 rear and 225/40 front with Eibach Pro Kit fitted (~20-30mm drop on rear). I'm occasionall having some rubbing on the rear when corning and then hitting a bump or if I hit a real big bump when going straight ahead.

The arch lip appears to have been rolled from the factory and it originally ran 245/40/17s on the rear. The rubbing is occuring up in the arch about 1-1.5 inches up from the lip. There was some rubbing from bumper and plasic trim in wheel arch but that's been sorted.

The car is running 2deg negative camber on the rear which is standard for this model. Would increasing the camber to 3deg solve it? I think the offset is 38mm on these wheels but I'll have to check later to confirm this.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

I rubbed in the same area when I ran 255/35-18 tires on 18x9et42 wheels. I was also running progressive KW rear springs (dont have much spring rate at the begginning of travel).

Went to a 18x9et45 wheel with the same tire. Also changed to a GC suspension with 600lb linear springs. No more rubbing.

I think you dont have enough offset out back.

My brother is running a similar set up, he had to roll the lips in all the way, no more rubbing, if this doesn't help you need a higher offset rear wheel or go 245's.

Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding rolling the arches; it's not rubbing on the lip but further up in the arch ~1.5 inches up into the arch. My car seems to have been rolled from the factory.

Spencer,

checked the wheels and they are in fact 40mm offset. Do you think increasing the negative camber to -3deg is OK, what do you recommend and will this make a big difference to tyre wear? My previous rubber on standard suspension so therefore -2deg camber didn't suffer from wear on the inner edge if anything it was rubbed on the outside edge.

The wheels are original Hartge Classics which I've spent alot of time and money to get right, reluctant to change them.

Thanks :)

No questions you will have to roll your fenders. I have the same wheels and tire size (255/35 712s). There was rubbing on stock suspension under large travel. The rubbing will be more prevalent on wider tires of same fitment (S03, etc).
