Ok so I know enough about cars to be dangerous (but know where I should and shouldn't be messing around LOL).

I have come to the end of my set of RFTs @ 59000 km (they get a little squirrel in the wet).

I came across a deal on a set of 17inch BMW rims with 225 55 17 RFTs on them and I am not 100% sure I can put these on my car.

I have the stock 16inch BMW rims with 205 55 16 RFTs

Is this something that can be done? As the price for these is significantly less than that of a new set of RFTs either from an independent tire merchant or the criminal dealer price.

I have some info that it is doable but still wanted to test the collective knowledge of this forum.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

I doubt that the new tires would fit, as they would be nearly 2" taller than your current 16" setup (24.88 vs. 26.74). They would need to be a 225/45/17 to be the same height. I run this exact size on my 335i in the winter, so I can't imagine that the larger 17" tire could fit.

There is a nice tire/wheel calculator located here:
