Hi all, my BMW was stolen Wednesday morning and recovered yesterday afternoon. It's been partially stripped. Since I had no insurance for theft (I live in a bad part of town and insurance cost more than the car (I wonder why??)), the towing company now wants ME to pay a few hundred for towing and storage!!
Any BMW enthusiasts on this board who are in the Boston area and want a '92 325i, totally rust free with the 5-spd (still intact) and lots of good glass, leather interior, new tires, etc. for PARTS, if you can take care of my towing and storage fees (presently $250, and rising at $20/day), I will sign the title over to you.
Thanks from a fellow BMW enthusiast ...
FYI, the car is not driveable but it has a clear title. Based on my quick look at the vehicle in the tow lot (it is in Hyde Park MA), the following parts are MISSING: instrument cluster, stereo, left fender, bumper, hood, radiator, driver's window, headrests, left door panels, spare tire, air conditioning system (incl. interior controls), the air intake and likely some electronics.
The good parts that can be salvaged are: all the remaining glass (except windshield which is cracked), the remaining body panels (painted Boston Green), the wheels and tires (< 5000 mi.), new rotors and brakes (< 4000 mi), the transmission (5-spd.) and engine, 158k miles but still very tight and well maintained, and the front and back seats which were left intact (minus headrests).

I can most easily be reached at jwhite [at] mit.edu regarding the car.
